A great time to display advertisements on your kiosk is while the kiosk is idle to catch the attention of passerby's. The kiosk's advertisements can even double as a screen saver to help prevent damage to the screen which can occur from showing the same image for too long. KioskSimple makes it easy to run advertisements on your kiosk by allowing you to define a series of web pages that run in a loop while the kiosk is idle (aka an attract loop). This makes it simple to display html based advertisements with pictures, audio and video from your kiosk.
I'll demonstrate how you can display advertisements on your kiosk in just a few easy steps. Keep in mind your ads need to be created as web pages and can either be stored on the kiosk for faster performance, or on a remote web server for ease of deployment.
Displaying advertisements on your kiosk in just a few easy steps:
- Run the KioskSimple Configuration Tool
- Navigate to DISPLAY -> SCREEN SAVER
- Set Enable Screen Saver to "ON"
- Add the webpage(s) which contain you ads to the URLs section
- Save your settings and you're done!
By default the ads (screen saver) will only run if a payment is not in progress. The user may be looking through their wallet for a credit card and you probably don't want to interrupt them while making a payment by displaying advertisements. You can also define how long the kiosk must be idle before the ads will run by setting the "Start Delay" property. Another nice feature is the ability randomize your advertisements and define how long till the next ad will be displayed.
